I think I'm in love: "easy being green sandal" from ModCloth

I am absolutely swooning for the gorgeous veg-friendly Easy Being Green Sandal from ModCloth, and absolutely crushed that they’re sold out! You can bet I hit the “notify me on restock” button, oh yes indeed. (Update: they’re back in stock! YAY!)

This is the first time I’ve fallen for a pair of bootie-like sandals. I have to say it: sometimes they can be downright fugly. But something about the shape and the hardware and the oh-so-fabulous colour of these sandals just speaks to me…(whispering, “you know you want me,” of course)

I’m not sure what’s scarier about this photograph…the terrifying bloody clown, or those horrendous platform shoes.

If your fear of bloody clowns wasn’t fully cemented after reading Stephen King’s “It”, Tim Engle’s “Clowning Around” photography set should close that loop. One thing is for certain; I won’t be associating super high platform shoes with strippers anymore (unless of course they’re lucite).

Well there’s an innovative idea! If you’re like me and have so many shoes that you’ve begun stashing them in all kinds of insane places, why not use that dead space under the bed-skirt?

This “Shoe Organizing Bed Skirt” is a pretty good deal at around $20. It holds 18 pairs of shoes, which for me would be the overflow It looks like it would also be good for keeping your shoes safe from four-legged friends.

If you find yourself in Ottawa, the Canadian War Museum has a neat exhibition on right now called Camouflage: from Battlefield to Catwalk, running until January 3, 2010.

“The innovative exhibition Camouflage traces the colourful history of military camouflage over the last century, from the simple concealment of soldiers and objects to the use of camouflage-inspired designs in a wide range of commercial and artistic products. This extensive exhibition shows how the art of military concealment and deception is a product of human imagination, artistic skill and scientific ingenuity, and how designs, applications and effectiveness have varied greatly over time.”

The ads feature this awesome pink cammo shoe: “Philip Treacy for Gina Couture, 2003; material inspired by Andy Warhol’s Camouflage series C.” My army friend was pretty floored to see a massive pink shoe plastered on the windows of a room full of tanks, lol. If only the troops could battle it out on the catwalk instead of the battlefield. Walk-off!

Now here’s a good idea for those flappy strapless shoes that don’t seem to want to stick to your feet. These clear plastic HeelStraps will help prevent any shoe-flinging and give you a hope in hell of actually running for the bus. I must confess, I own almost zero strapless shoes for precisely the reasons that these straps were invented. Heels aside, I have a pair of slip-on flats that will randomly kick off while I’m trying to walk, or my heel will slide off the back. Drives me nuts, not to mention that I must look a bit odd hobbling around trying to figure out how to grip them with my feet. Anyhow, I think these neat straps are only for heels so I’m outta luck on the flats, but if I ever fall in love with a beautiful pair of strapless heels, I’ll know where to go for backup!
