This summer I switched jobs and ended up working in a team with a much higher ratio of women to men, and with a female boss. I noticed right away that there were a lot of great shoes being worn around the office, and it just seemed like the climate was a little more feminine and fun when it came to fashion.

Now, I’ve often felt kind of ridiculous (not to mention a great deal of shopping guilt) at having such a pile of fun shoes at home and not wearing most of them.  But I knew that I couldn’t be the only one.

So we gals at the office instituted “Fabu Shoe Day” – every Monday, we each wear a fun pair of shoes that we wouldn’t normally wear. Here’s a shot of our toes all together sporting our fabu shoes one of our Mondays:

Since we started Fabu Shoe Day, I’ve worn a different pair of shoes pretty much every Monday, most of which I had never worn before.  And there’s also the concurrent benefit that this necessitates experimenting a lot more with my wardrobe, thus I’m wearing a lot of clothes that had been languishing in my closet too.  Not only is this helping to alleviate the shopping guilt, but it’s actually helping me to pare down my closet a bit.

And one more benefit…with Mondays having such a bad rap, it’s great to start out the week with a quick gathering to “Ooh” and “Ahh” over each others’ fabu shoes.
