One of my colleagues never fails to impress me with her well-coordinated and creative outfits, complete with matching shoes.
I always wondered how she managed to keep it up, as I am definitely too lazy to tote a different pair of heels to the office every day. (…or accessorize…or colour coordinate…or wear makeup…hell, I don’t even brush my hair). I keep two pairs of shoes at work: one pair of worn out comfy black flats, and one pair of too-cheap-and-fugly-to-wear brown flats.
One day, I discovered my colleague’s guilty secret. She had a whole filing cabinet drawer STUFFED with shoes! What’s funnier is that I know she’s not the only one in my office with this little secret…(don’t worry boss, I’m not going to out you):)
Anyway, it seems that my colleague was inspired by one of the other gals in the office to pick up a shoe rack and display her collection of work shoes right in her cubicle. What a great idea!
…Of course, since we work in the environment field, whenever anyone comments on her shoe rack, she gets this pained look of dissonance on her face and starts muttering “it’s horrible..it’s horrible…”
I know the feeling…I recently took an inventory of my shoe collection and thought I was going to pass out (post to come…once I’ve re-stocked the smelling salts). But everyone has at least one environmental vice, no? Lets call it a work in progress.
