I was perusing the Patrick Cox collection today and found the whimsical and aptly named “Dorothy”. Behold:

Although I find the so-called “plexi-bow” a little confounding, I can’t help but want to love these shoes. After all, the Wizard of Oz is such an iconic film, and remains a beloved classic despite it being nearly 3 times as old as I am.

The deep red glitter, the cute rounded toe, it’s fun. But the tacky bow and the shallow toe and the strange wobbly slope of the shoe are throwing me off.

Maybe the bow is actually made out of hard candy, like some kind of emergency snack for ravenous starlets. I can see how that could prevent considerable carnage on the red carpet. In that case, I salute Patrick Cox for his ingenuity.

One can only hope that that metal clip houses a teleportation chip activated when you click the stout heels together. Beam me up, toto.
